Visit the Stewartry Museum, Kirkcudbright
This 19th century museum tells the fascinating history of the Stewartry, the eastern part of Galloway.
The museum's collections chiefly relate to the human and natural history of the Stewartry, the eastern half of Galloway also known as Kirkcudbrightshire. The social history collections of the 18th and 19th century are particularly important and offer a fascinating insight into Stewartry.
Amongst the displays are fascinating exhibits like the Siller Gun, Britain's earliest surviving sporting trophy, and beautiful works by renowned Kirkcudbrightshire artists including Jessie M King. Temporary exhibitions also highlight different aspects of the collection.
