- In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing. Theodore Roosevelt
Visit Ceredigion Museum, Aberystwyth
Housed in the fine old Coliseum Theatre, the Ceredigion Museum showcases the history of Aberystwyth and the county of Ceredigion.
Exhibitions and displays chronicle life in the county from prehistoric times to today. There is a wide variety of well-presented displays which cover all sorts of topics including home and work life, agriculture and seafaring.
The diverse collection of items on display has many items donated by local people and includes items from farm equipment, to children's toys, to an unnerving collection of dentistry equipment.
There is a reconstruction of a 19th century Welsh cottage, and the museum is also home to the mechanism of the old town clock which stood at the top of Great Darkgate Street between 1856 and 1956. Still in working order, a small dial displays the time to passers by in Terrace Road below.
The collection is housed in the auditorium of the old Coliseum Theatre and Cinema. The building's history is reflected in the fascinating collection of old film and theatrical memorabilia.
