Coleg Sir Gâr's higher education provision is just over a decade old but the main site has been home to Graig comprehensive school and Llanelli Boys' Grammar School.
Courses and teaching
Higher education courses are available in Built Environment, Business, Care, Computing, Creative Industries, Engineering, Hair & Beauty and Catering. Foundation degrees are offered in Textile Product Technologies, Construction & Heritage and Care & Support.
Foundation degrees are charged at £8,500 per year for new full-time students. The BA Art & Design course costs £7,500.
Each campus is different but access to the coast and to the Welsh countryside is available at each site making it an attractive area to those who love the outdoors. Carmarthen, Ammanford and Llanelli all have good pubs, a range of bars and theatres. Access to Cardiff and Manchester is easy enough to get home from for those looking for a city night.
There are five campuses all of which are within one hour from the South West Wales coastline.
Accommodation officers have an approved list of local properties students can rent privately.
A variety of facilities are available across the five campuses including an indoor equine arena, a training restaurant, hair and beauty salons, a new construction centre and automotive engineering centre, dance studio, CAD/CAM suites, an engineering centre, cast iron foundry, textile technologies, media studio and an agricultural campus with working farm.
