- In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing. Theodore Roosevelt
Graduate from the Abertay University
Abertay University is an internationally recognised institution dating back to 1888, when it was founded to offer opportunities of higher education to working people in Dundee.
Today, the university is recognised for its achievements in teaching, learning, and research that directly support the industry of today and the future.
Situated in Dundee – Scotland’s fourth largest city – Abertay has just over 6,100 students. Around half of these are from Scotland, but 65 countries are represented in the student community.
The small size of Abertay University is one of its main strengths – not only for its students, but for its academics as well: the university is home to world-leading inter- and cross-disciplinary research teams who find creative solutions to real-world problems.
The university’s world-leading development of computer games technology and digital arts degree programmes has resulted in it being named the first UK Centre for Excellence in Computer Games Education.
Abertay has Skillset Media Academy status (a government scheme recognising excellence in HE for industry) and its Dare to be Digital game design competition is supported by major computer games companies including Microsoft and Sony. Dare to be Digital winners are the only entrants for the BAFTA Ones to Watch Award, a prize developed in partnership between Abertay University and BAFTA.
The university has internationally recognised research strengths in soil science, psychology, sport and exercise science, energy and the environment, and its teaching provision is recognised by a range of industry accreditations for delivering graduates ready for the world of work.
Abertay is a UK leader in computer security education – with undergraduate and postgraduate courses in ethical hacking – and is a UK centre for innovative visualisation research into sustainable development and medical research.
